LA PUENTE – Bassett Unified School District is taking trade skills into the realm of high tech, offering fundamental and advanced electrician classes for students at both Nueva Vista High School and Bassett Adult School.
James Peare teaches Nueva Vista and Adult School students, drawing on 40-plus years of teaching and trade experience as a journeyman and electrical superintendent.
“Our goal is to place at least 90 percent of our students in jobs that are not limited to the traditional residential/commercial construction field,” Peare said. “We are committed to being the high-tech training leader in Southern California and so we offer comprehensive hands-on training with actual transformers, motors, solid state sensors, Title 24 lighting control systems and industrial controls.”
Bassett Adult School student Alvaro Mendoza, who is in his first module in the program, is already seeing an improvement in his trade skills as an electrician.
“Choosing to attend Bassett Adult School has helped me to make more progress, not only in my education but specifically in my trade as an electrician,” Mendoza said. “I recommend Bassett to anyone who wants to be successful in life.”
