Electrician Trainee #3

Module 3: Motor Controls This Module will expand on the more advanced commercial sector and introduce students into the Industrial wiring sector of electrical work. Advanced Electrician Training requires 234 hours.

Upon completing the electrical training program, a graduate will acquire the following skills:
  • Have a thorough understanding of safety, including general construction safety, ladders, fall protection, lockout tag out, arc flash hazards, and personal protection equipment.
  • Have a thorough understanding of grounding and bonding requirements, including touch and step potentials, equal potential ground protection, static protection, and cathodic protection. 
  • Be able to select and install proper overcurrent protection achieving correct coordination and selective. 
  • Be able to specify, select, install commission and troubleshoot AC and DC motors and recognize the common power transmission gears, sprockets, and pulleys used in commercial and industrial facilities. 
  • Be able to select, install, and commission variable speed drives and variable frequency drives. 
  • Be fully able to troubleshoot in a timely manner, all the systems listed above. Textbooks and tools required.
