Electrician Trainee #4

This module is a very comprehensive hand-on module introducing the student into motor controls and programmable logic controllers. Motor Controls/Intro to PLC requires 234 hours and has a wage range per hour of $19.50 to $20.00.

 

Upon completing the electrical training program, a graduate will acquire the following skills:
  • Develop a thorough understanding of control logic, diagrams, and devices.
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of photoelectric and proximity sensors.
  • Have a thorough understanding of electromagnetic and solid state devices.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Programmable logic controllers understanding functions, operations and characteristics of VFD, CPU, Memory types and size, storage, battery backup, peripheral devices, ladder diagrams, process control systems and programming methods for PLC.
  • Be able to discuss the functions, operation, and characteristics of an HMI (Human Machine Interface) unit demonstrating the ability to install and use an HMI unit in given situations.
  • Be fully able to troubleshoot various problems in a control circuit. Textbooks and tools required.
