Child Development

The Child Development course will give students project-based experiences in child development programs. Instruction includes an orientation, workplace safety policies and procedures, communications and critical thinking techniques, and employability skills. Emphasis is placed on the theories of human development and growth. This competency-based course is sequenced in three levels designed for early childhood education. This course’s competencies align with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards: Child Development 1 – Foundations; Child Development 2 – Language, Arts, and Music for Young Children; Child Development 3 – Curriculum.
