Los Angeles County Announces 18 New Deaths Related to 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) - 475 New Cases of Confirmed COVID-19 in Los Angeles County.
LOS ANGELES –The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (Public Health) has confirmed 18 new deaths and 475 new cases of 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). Over the last 48 hours, there have been 900 new cases. Ten people who died were over the age of 65; seven people between the ages of 41 to 65 years old and one person between the ages of 18 to 40 years old. One death was reported by the City of Long Beach and one death by the City of Pasadena.

Bassett USD campuses will remain physically closed for the remainder of the academic school year.

Student, staff and family safety is our number one priority. State health officials have made it clear that the safest place to be is home during the COVID-19 pandemic. With that in mind, Bassett USD campuses will remain physically closed for the remainder of the academic school year. This decision aligns with the recommendation from the California Department of Education and the Los Angeles County Office of Education.

School Opening Pushed back to May 4, 2020

Following the guidelines set forth by Governor Gavin Newsom and the Department of Education and Los Angeles County Office of Education, Bassett Unified will resume classes May 4, 2020 at the earliest. More news and updates will be coming soon to the website.

Drive through Meal Service Starts March 16

BUSD is offering free meals to all children 18 and younger. No paperwork required. Meals will be consumed offsite.
Pick-up available at Sunkist, Van Wig, Don Julian, Torch and Edgewood.

The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has cautioned that the coronavirus/COVID-19 may likely spread to communities in the United States. Since the onset of the virus, Bassett Unified School District has taken proactive measures.
