Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal law that protects the privacy of students' education records from kindergarten through graduate school. FERPA applies to all schools that receive funds through an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education, and thus most postsecondary schools are covered by FERPA.
Bassett Adult School is committed to maintaining the confidentiality of student records and complying with FERPA regulations. This policy outlines the rights of students and their families regarding educational records and how these rights are protected at Bassett Adult School. For more details, please visit our campus or contact our school administration office.
Bassett Adult School does not carry accident insurance for students nor for the children of the students.
Bassett Adult School, in compliance with civil rights legislation, hereby asserts that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, creed, sex, age, or disabilities in its employment or enrollment in any educational program.
Students are encouraged to dress comfortably. Shoes and shirts are required. Inappropriate dress includes: clothing marked with profane or suggestive language, clothing marked with sexual, racial or ethnic slurs, gang clothing or any clothing which exposes private areas of the body. Caps are permitted outside of the classroom. Students violating the dress code will be asked to leave and return dressed appropriately.
Bassett Adult School students may be asked to complete an Acceptable Use Policy for District Computer Systems form during class to ensure security and reliability of our systems and to prevent unauthorized access and other unlawful activities by users online.
Information in this brochure was accurate at time of publication. Programs and schedules may be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances.
Students are urged to first discuss grievances with the school administrator in an informal conference. If the problem is not satisfactorily resolved at the informal level, the district has established procedures to resolve alleged violations of state/federal funded programs. These procedures require the complainant to submit a written form [1312.I-E(a)] to Superintendent at the Bassett Unified School District.
Sexual harassment by employee or student will not be tolerated. The governing board considers sexual harassment to be a major offense that can result in disciplinary action of the offending employee or suspension or expulsion of students. For more information, please refer to our Student Handbook.
Bassett Adult School provides information that may qualify students to participate in financial assistance through the TAA/TRA, EDD/ETPL, and WIA. Veterans and Reservists may be eligible for grants.
