Physical Therapy Aide

This course is short term vocational training designed to prepare the student to work at an acute, chronic, rehab facility, or outpatient clinic. You will learn how to assist patients who are recovering from illness, disabilities, and surgery so that the patient can resume daily routines and activities. Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to work under the direction of a physical therapist or chiropractor. This course covers anatomy, gait training, transfer techniques, massage, exercise, and other modalities. Textbook, lab coat, ID badge, TB test and a physical from your health care provider is required.  There are 108 hours required plus an additional 80 hours of an externship to total 188 hours overall. The wage range per hour is $15.80 to $16.00.

Enrollment Requirements:
  • Must be at least 18 years old prior to the start of the class
  • Valid California Driver’s License/ Identification Card
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED or be co-enrolled in an HSD program.
  • Lab Coat, ID Badge TB Test and Physical are required.
  • Must be able to perform duties in externship to earn certificate.
