Arts, Media, and Entertainment
This course covers the Fundamentals of Graphic Design through learning the different skills you need in design strategies by using visual examples such as design theory, typography, layout, color theory, print, web, branding development, and conceptualization of images through sketching, digital imaging software; Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe In-Design.
Building and Construction
This competency-based course is the first in a sequence of two designed for Plumbing education. It provides students with project-based experiences in plumbing techniques. Instruction includes orientation, workplace safety policies, and procedures, techniques for communications, and the theories of plumbing. OSHA-10 instructions and licensing. The goal of the Plumbing program is to ensure students are qualified for an entry-level position in the plumbing field.
Business and Finance
Secretary/Administrative Assistant (36 weeks, VA Approved)
An Administrative Assistant graduate will be able to work in a business office as a manager, executive secretary, or as the right hand of the administrator. He/she will be able to use all components of the Office suite to create all business correspondence, including spreadsheets, presentations, and to perform basic accounting tasks. He/she can assist the administrator with planning his/her calendar, check and answer emails and keep the office organized.

Education, Child Development, and Family Services
The Child Development course will provide students with project based experiences in child development programs. Instruction includes an orientation, workplace safety policies and procedures, communications and critical thinking techniques, and employability skills. Emphasis is placed on the theories of human development and growth. This competency-based course is sequenced in three levels designed for early childhood education. The competencies in this course are aligned with the California High School Academic Content Standards and the California Career Technical Education Model Curriculum Standards: Child Development 1 – Foundations; Child Development 2 – Curriculum; Child Development 3 – Supervision. Energy, Environment, and Utilities
Existing law requires that persons performing work as an electrician under a C 10 licensed electrical contractor be certified according to certification standards established by the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement. An electrician is defined as all persons who engage in the connection of electrical devices for electrical contractors.
Bassett Adult School (#0169) is approved by the State of California Department of Industrial Relations to offer Whole General Electrician Curriculum. Students may apply for an Electrician Trainee Card (T-Card) upon verification of enrollment and attendance of any module. Bassett Adult School has various modules available, each teaching a different topic. The state of California requires students to complete a minimum of 150 hours of schooling per year to maintain their T-card.

Energy and Environmental Technology / Major Appliance Repair
This course is a short-term vocational training designed to prepare the student in Major Appliance Repair. Students will learn to diagnose service, install and repair dryers, refrigerators washers, and stoves. Students will learn safety, basic tools and use of diagnostic instruments used in the field. Students will also prepare and test for the EPA 608 (Type 1) and OSHA 10.
Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (18 weeks, VA Approved)
This course is short term vocational training designed to prepare the student in the fundamentals of refrigeration and air conditioning. Students will learn to diagnose service, install and repair residential and commercial refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Students will learn safety, necessary tools, and the use of diagnostic instruments used in the field. Students will also prepare and test for an EPA 608 Universal Certification.

This course covers the fundamentals of water supply principles. This course is designed to prepare the student to take the Distribution Level 1 exam with the State Water Resource Control Board (SWRCB).

Health Science and Medical Technology
Certificated Nurse Assistant (CNA)
Prepares students for immediate employment in a skilled nursing or other long-term facility. Includes resident care, nutrition, rehabilitation, and emergency care. Graduates are eligible to take the state competency exam for CNA. Health packets will be given at mandatory orientations and must be completed by start of class. Fluency in the English language is preferred but is not mandatory. Includes: 64 hours Theory; 100 hours Clinical Lab and 52 hours CNA Essentials.
Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician( 11 weeks)-COMING SOON
Electrocardiograph or EKG technicians are healthcare professionals who perform diagnostic tests that help doctors identify cardiovascular problems in patients. The tests can help discover any irregularities in the heart that could lead to a heart attack or heart disease. They work mostly in hospitals, but can also work in long-term specialty care facilities or private practices. The EKG course is a short term low cost career option, that is in high demand.
This course prepares the student to provide direct patient care under the direction of a nurse or doctor in a variety of health care settings. Using technical skills learned in both the classroom and clinical setting, home health assistants perform such tasks as feeding, bathing, positioning, ambulating and comfort measures for the patient. The program consists of 40 hours theory and clinical training under direct supervision. California Department of Public Health NAC Number: 7087. The Home Health Aide field is expected to see a 33% increase in jobs between 2020 and 2030 according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics due to the needs of aging population.
Prior to completing the home health assistant nursing program, students must have completed an approved Certified Nurse Assistant Program.
Prerequisite: Completed an approved Certified Nurse Assistant Program and have an active CNA certificate, Physical examination, TB clearance by PPD/Chest X-Ray and Medical insurance.
Medical Insurance Billing and Coding/Administrative Assistant ( VA approved)
This course is designed to prepare the student for entry-level procedural and diagnostic coding, including medical billing with reimbursement management. Web-based software is used to enable the student the freedom to access the software remotely. Successful completion of this program allows the student to meet the entry-level requirements to perform a variety of tasks at various health care facilities.
Physical Therapy Aide (6 weeks +80 hours of internship, VA approved)
This course is short term vocational training designed to prepare the student to work at an acute, chronic, rehab facility, or outpatient clinic. You will learn how to assist patients who are recovering from illness, disabilities, and surgery so that the patient can resume daily routines and activities. Upon completion of the program, you will be prepared to work under the direction of a physical therapist or chiropractor.

Public Service
Security is one of the fastest-growing industries in the State of California. The Security Academy Curriculum at Bassett Adult School is short term training designed and focused on preparing the student for a career in Private Security. Instructors are all former law enforcement officers with an extensive amount of experience.
